Hyderabad, Oct 24: Three members of a family, including a seven-year-old boy, were killed in a tragic incident of wall collapse in Kotamma Basti of Vijayanagar Colony near Masab Tank here on Thursday.
The deceased – Parvati (45), her daughter-in-law Lakshmi (25) and Janardhan (7) were killed when a wall of an adjoining private college building collapsed on their thatched house. Two others including a minor boy Srihari were injured in the incident and were rushed to Osmania General Hospital for treatment. They were natives of Bhimavaram of West Godavari district.
The incident occurred around 6 AM on Thursday. On hearing the noise, the neighbours rushed to the rescue and informed the Humayun Nagar police. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation teams immediately rushed to the spot and rescued two members from the debris. All three dead bodies have been recovered from the spot.
Secunderabad MP M Anjan Kumar Yadav, GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain, Deputy Mayor G Rajkumar, MLC Prabhakar, DCP West Zone Satyanarayana, ACP GP Vinod Kumar and other officials also reached the spot. There were some tense moments when the neighbours refused to allow the authorities to shift the bodies to the OGH mortuary till they promise adequate compensation and better treatment for the injured.
