Hyderabad, Sept 13 : Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain has informed that the Chairman of 14th Finance Commission, Government of India has assured that the Finance Commission will release the funds of Rs 424.59 crores due under 13th Finance Commission to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
Mayor submitted a memorandum consisting of proposals under 14th Finance Commission to the Chairman, 14th Finance Commission, who is on their visit to Hyderabad.
Majid Hussain has informed the Commission that 70 per cent of the GDP of State Government has been collected in Urban Local Bodies but the allocation to the ULB is to meager. He has informed the Commission that GHMC could not get any funds under 11th and 12th Finance Commission and under 13th Finance Commission though Rs 505.68 crores was allotted only Rs 81.09 crores was released.
Further Mayor has submitted a proposal of Rs 2,736 crores under 14th Finance Commission for remodeling / construction of Storm Water Drains, Construction of flyovers / ROBs / RUBs/ elevated corridors, major & link roads, musi revitalization Project Phase-1, Protection works such as chain link, fencing, street lighting, integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSWM) Project under PPP mode, major parks, colony parks, biodiversity parks, avenue plantations, central nurseries in GHMC area, women empowerment, livelihood promotion, disabled welfare (VIKASAM), Senior Citizen Welfare (AASARA), Road Infrastructure Improvements, intelligent transport system infrastructure and measures to improve safety and security.
