Publish draft electoral rolls by Oct 3: CEO

Hyderabad, Sept.4 : Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal today said draft electoral rolls should be published by October 3 and Electoral Registration Officers should dispose the pending application forms 6, 7, 8 and 8 (a) by September 23.

Bhanwarlal held a review meeting with Electoral Registration Officers (ERO) in Panwar hall here in which Navin Mittal, District Election Officer and Special Commissioner, GHMC along with D. Jayaraj Kennedy, Additional Commissioner (Elections) and K. Ashok Reddy, Additional Commissioner (IT) attended.

The CEO directed all the EROs to write letters to the college managements of Inter plus in their jurisdiction to submit the details of the students, including date of birth availability of Election Photo Identity Cards. He also directed the EROs to coordinate with the college managements asking them to depute one of the efficient staff members for cross verification and inclusion of fresh names in the Electoral rolls by duly contacting the EROs.

Bhanwarlal also asked all Election Officers (ROs) to upload the affidavits of the elected candidates from 2004 onwards on Election Commission website. Stating that the Kerala Government had announced that they received 100 per cent online applications, the CEO felt why not the same tried in Hyderabad city.

Navin Mittal, District Election Officer and Special Commissioner, GHMC said 1000 is the average voters for each polling station and they have involved political parties extensively while settling several issues regarding electoral rolls. The CEO has appreciated Navin Mittal, District Electoral officer and Special Commissioner, GHMC for rationalization of polling stations in scientific manner.

Mittal has informed that they have been cross checking the electoral rolls with property tax details and vice-versa while verifying the electoral rolls. The CEO has requested the District Election Officer and Special Commissioner, GHMC to do the exercise of cross checking of electoral rolls with Property Tax details for Ranga Reddy area of GHMC limits also.
