TPCC condemns arrest of LoPs

Hyderabad, July 29 (INN): The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has strongly condemned the arrest of Leaders of Opposition K. Jana Reddy and Mohammed Ali Shabbir while they were on their way to visit the outsees of Mallana Sagar.

Addressing a press conference after chairing an emergency meeting with Congress MLAs and MLCs at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the behaviour of police while arresting the top leaders was highly objectionable. He said both Jana Reddy and Shabbir Ali enjoy Cabinet Rank. They were asked to come out of their bullet proof vehicles and taken away in regular police vehicles. Their whereabouts were not known for almost two hours. “The police treated the LoPs like terrorists and anti-nationals. Are opposition leaders not permitted to tour the State?” he asked while adding that the arrest was an open violation of privileges given to Leaders of Opposition.

Bhatti alleged that the Mallanna Sagar outsees have been cut off from rest of the State and the government was forcing them to handover their lands. He appealed to the media to expose the dictatorial attitude of TRS Government. He said that the Congress leaders would visit the Mallanna Sagar victims by taking a media team along with them.

AICC Secretary G. Chinna Reddy, CLP Secretary T. Rammohan Reddy, MLA D.K. Aruna and MLC Ranga Reddy were also present. (INN)
