Hyderabad, July 26 : Former Minister Konda Surekha is most likely to quit the YSR Congress party following resignation of party’s 16 MLAs over Telangana issue.
Earlier on Friday, Surekha had given an ultimatum to party’s Honorary President YS Vijayamma asking her to clarify on the mass resignation of party MLAs demanding the Centre to keep Andhra Pradesh united. She said Vijayamma has to clarify whether the decision to resign from the post was taken on an individual basis by the MLAs or was it party’s decision to take an anti-Telangana stand.
Surekha feels that the MLAs’ resignations have branded the YSRCP as Seemandhra party.
According to sources, senior leaders have intensified efforts to pacify Surekha, the MLAs are firm on their resignation. They would be meeting Vijayamma in the evening to explain their version. In the prevailing circumstances, sources say that Surekha might quit the YSRCP in the next few days.INN
