Hyderabad, July 22 : Revenue Minsiter Dr N Raghuveera Reddy on Monday announced that an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh would be paid to the families of those killed in recent heavy rains and floods.
Talking to reporters after reviewing the relief and rescue operations with the officials at the State Secretariat here, Raghuveera Reddy confirmed 12 deaths due to heavy rains and floods across the State. He said as many as 5,204 houses were damaged due to heavy rains while 804 villages lost electricity. However, he said relief measures were being taken on immediate basis and electricity has been restored in 480 villages by 10 AM on Monday.
Following an IMD’s alert of heavy rains for another 48 hours, the minister said that the District Collectors have been put on alert and asked to evacuate people to safer locations, wherever required. INN
