Hyderabad, July 9 : Describing the panchayat elections as a fight between the pro- development and anti-development forces, YSR Congress Honorary President YS Vijayama has appealed to the people to make the correct choice as the elections are not being conducted on party basis.
In an open letter to the people, she said: “with notification to the panchyat elections being issued, the people have to choose the right candidate as the future depends on the elected sarpanches. The state is passing through a difficult phase and you have to make a choice between the people who are associated with forces that are in favour of development and welfare schemes and those who have and are opposing them.”
While the five year and three month period of YSR term is a golden era, the preceding and succeeding terms have been dark phases in which people had to face many hardships.
The present Congress government and the previous TDP government had only a single point agenda as to how to squeeze money from the people. Both Congress TDP stand for anti-development and are against welfare schemes. They have increased bus fares, power charges and taxes and people have witnessed and still are witnessing many hardships.
The two parties have taken the development clock backward in terms of agriculture, industry and other fields. Development in rural and social sectors is badly affected.
The panchayat polls are a golden chance to teach the two parties a fitting lesson. These elections are a fight between anti-development forces and YSR Congress which is always with the people. This is a war between values and credibility on one hand and conspiracy and betrayal on the other. This is the beginning of the grand battle ahead.
After the death of YSR, we have seen the nexus between Congress and TDP in by-elections, cooperative elections, MLC elections and on other occasions. Even during the no-confidence motion, the two parties have ganged up.
These two parties will not hesitate to field joint candidate in these polls, we should thwart their designs. YSRCP sympathizers and people who want to see development in the state should come together to defeat those who are siding with the anti-development forces.
These elections should be treated as prelude to the general elections which will usher in the golden era of YSR. Party cadre should see these elections as the first step towards the bright future.
Parents who are looking for the bright future of their children and people, who are hoping for a welfare state, should encourage the candidates who are in the fray on behalf of YSR Congress Party.
“I have been appealing in all the regional conference to make the right choice to the voters and am reiterating through this appeal, she said in the appeal. INN
