Draft electoral rolls to be published by Sept 2

Hyderabad, July 9 : Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal has directed all the EROs and AEROs to complete the data entry work of the electoral rolls before 31st July 2013 and further directed to publish that the exercise of the entire draft electoral rolls to be published by 2nd September 2013.

The CEO along with GHMC Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu held a review meeting with the District Electoral Officers Navin Mittal, Special Commissioner, Sridhar, District Collector, Ranga Reddy and all EROs and AEROs in Panwar hall on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion Bhanwar Lal directed the EROs and AEROs to bestow their personal attention and not to rely on the booth level officers (BLOs) of the census ward.

Bhanwarlal stated that he has received lot of complaints stating that most of the BLOs are not attending their duties properly in door to door survey, stern action should be initiated against those who are not performing their duties properly. The EROs must personally monitor and visit all the polling stations in their jurisdiction and see that necessary data entries are made properly and to have a random cross check of the entries which are being made from the BLOs register whether the polling stations are existing or being shifted in a proper manner.

The CEO directed all the EROs and AEROs to tie up with all the colleges as this is the time for admissions in colleges where the EROs can avail the services of the college managements for enrolling the voters duly issuing the form No. 6. He further stated that every ERO must play a vital role for enrolling the new voters as lot of the colonies and newly constructed houses have come up in various areas of the GHMC.

While interacting with the CEO, some of the EROs have stated that most of the data entry operators have not been given salaries since 6 months and still they are performing their duties regularly without any inconvenience and requested the CEO to release the funds immediately. In response to the request the Commissioner, GHMC directed the Additional Commissioner (Admn.) to provide funds from the GHMC, later on reimburse the same from the Government.

The CEO said that EROs must be very keen while deleting, adding, shifting of the names of the electors so that there should not be any scope from the political parties / electors to face the consequences. He also directed to utilize the medical officers services duly seeing the death registrations to delete the name of the deceased from the electoral rolls. The CEO directed the ERO and DMC-11 to coordinate with the President of the IT companies Association of Hi-tech city so that he can enroll most of the IT personnel in the electoral rolls. INN
