Hyderabad, June 19 : As many as 32 people have been sent to jail by different courts for driving in inebriated condition.
While, Third Metropolitan Magistrate B Chengalaraya Nayudu convicted 27 people for a period of three days imprisonment each for drunken driving, Fourth Metropolitan Magistrate Shiva Shanker Prasad convicted five persons for a period of one day imprisonment each for drunken driving.
The Enforcement against Drunk Driving was carried out over the last weekend on June 15th. A total of 261 cases were booked against Drunk Drivers. The vehicles of all the respondents were detained which included 197 two-wheelers, nine three-wheelers and 54 four-wheelers. They attended the compulsory counseling sessions at TTI, Begumpet and Goshamahal on Monday.
The respondents were produced before the Third and Fourth Metropolitan Magistrate Court and fine Rs 2000 to 2,100 was imposed.
From 1st January, 2013 to 15th June, a total of 6,019 cases have been registered and total imprisonments are 492 as on date. INN
