Hyderabad, June 12 : TRS MLA Pocharam Srinivas on Wednesday ridiculed the statement of Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde wherein he claimed that there was no consensus on Telangana issue.
Speaking to media persons at the Assembly’s media point, Pocharam asked whether there was consensus when the Telangana region was forcibly merged with Andhra. He said there was consensus when the then Home Minister P Chidambaram announced the formation of Telangana in December 2009. However, the Centre did not honour its words and now the issue of consensus was being raised, he said.
Pocharam also condemned the State Government for not permitting the Chalo Assembly rally. He said that the pro-Telangana activists were not planning to gherao the Assembly, but want to highlight the intensity of the demand. He demanded that the State Government immediately the indiscriminate arrests of TRS and other pro-Telangana workers and permit the rally. He warned the government against provoking Telangana sentiments. INN
