Hyderabad, June 2 : The North Zone team of Commissioner’s Task Force on Sunday arrested one person who was trying to sell a stolen lorry in scrap.
The accused, Shaik Javeedc (38), was arrested near Bahadurpura and a 12-wheeled Ashok Leyland lorry, worth nearly Rs 20 lakh, was seized from his possession.
According to police, Shaik Javeed, a resident of Kamatipura, was doing vehicle towing business. A few months ago he came in contact with one Sardarji K.K who was selling the stolen lorries of other states. In order to overcome his financial problems he has knowingly purchased a 12 wheeler Ashok Leyland stolen lorry from K.K for Rs 7 lakh and paid Rs 5 lakh as advance. He also concealed the evidence by removing the registration number of the lorry and also got it repainted.
On Sunday, while he was on his way to dispose the lorry in scrap he was caught by North Zone Task Force Team. With the help of engine and chasis numbers its owner of the vehicle was traced and it came to known that the lorry was stolen on the intervening night of 25/26-04-2013 in the limits of Buthibowli PS of Maharashtra State.
The accused was earlier arrested by CCS police in Cr. No. 354/2005 u/e 406 and 420 IPC. He is also a wanted accused in Cr. No. 113/2013 of Kunigal PS of Karnataka State.
The arrested accused along with seized property was handed over to Bahadurpura Police Station for taking necessary action. INN
