Hyderabad, April 27 : GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain has expressed his shock over non-compliance of the detailed project report (DPR) submitted to Government of India by the housing officials of the GHMC.
The Mayor held a review meeting with the officials of housing department in his chambers today. He has informed that it has been mentioned in the DPR that 36 Community halls, 35 Anganwadi centres, primary health centres including infrastructure will be but not even a single tender has called for so far and this shows the negligence of the officials while performing the duties.
Majid Hussain has enquired about that how the officials have arrived at price escalation, asked for the reasons for escalation and asked the officials to submit the work wise details along with the DPR. He also enquired why the beneficiary should be burdened for the increased cost of the unit because of escalation. He has also said that the income limit for a BPL family (the beneficiary) is Rs. 36,000 per annum and how come that a beneficiary be burdened with the contribution of 30 per cent of the unit cost i.e., about Rs. 60,000 to 80,000. He further said that the officers are not in a position to tell about the amount of beneficiary contribution that is collected.
The Mayor said that on the request of the beneficiaries with regard to beneficiary contribution of Greater Vizag and Vijayawada Municipal Corporations the Government has agreed for 50/50 sharing of beneficiary contribution between the state govt. and the urban local body, without burdening the beneficiaries. H.W. Mayor directed the officials to submit the preamble to the Standing Committee on the same lines so that a decisions can be taken in the interest of the poor and he will be personally monitor with Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development and senior officials for favorable consideration to implement the same in the GHMC also.
Majid Hussain further stated that he along with the Standing Committee Members will be inspecting all the Housing Schemes in the GHMC limits to have a clear picture about Housing and what all the infrastructures have been provided so far. He also directed the Engineer-in-Chief and Superintending Engineers to submit the details of the Infrastructure provided phase wise to have clarity in the meeting which is scheduled to be held on 6th May 2013, Monday next month.
The Mayor has enquired about how many works are being on given on nomination basis and for how many works tender process followed. The officials have informed him that construction of 21,594 units out of 52,985 units have been given on nomination. The officials have further informed H.W.Mayor that the cement has been allocated under subsidized rates but not on SSR rates. On enquiry the officials has informed H.W.Mayor that out of 17,172 beneficiaries only 80 people got the loan and H.W.Mayor directed them to sit with the bankers and expedite the loaning process as per the G.O.Ms.No. 159 of Revenue Department.
