Hyderabad, April 21 : Senior TDP MLA Ambati Brahmanaiah died here on Sunday. He was 75 and is survived by three daughters and a son. He was admitted to the Global Hospital where he breathed his last on Sunday morning.
Born on January 13, 1940, Brahmanaiah was entered active politics through Janata Party. However, he got elected as the Member of Legislative Assembly in 1994 from Machilipatnam and in 1999 he won the Machilipatnam Lok Sabha seat. He was also a member of Committee on Urban and Rural Development and Committee on Absence of Members from the Sittings of the House. In 2009, he defeated Congress candidate Mandali Buddha Prasad to win Avanigadda assembly seat. He was also the Krishna district TDP President for almost nine years.
Brahmanaiah was also a sportsman and played shotput, racing, discus throw and swimming. He was the winner of junior championship in High School. He also got first place in swimming in Andhra Pradesh MLAs Cultural and Sports Meet held in 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and other leaders expressed their condolences over Brahmanaiah’s demise. INN
