Hyderabad, February 12 : The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways made a visit to Secunderabad on Tuesday under the Chairmanship of MP Nandi Yellaiah. The other Members of the committee who visited Secunderabad include MPs Bhaskar Rao Patil Khatgonkar, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, Satabdi Roy, Dr Vivekanand, Hussain Dalwai and Ambeth Rajan.
The Committee held informal discussions with SCR General Manager A K Mital on the subject of “Major Railway Accidents during the last five years-Causes and Remedial Measures”. The General Manager appraised the members of the Committee on the analysis of train accidents on SCR during the last five years and also explained the various measures taken / being implemented to prevent accidents.
Earlier in the day, the Committee Members visited various Shop floors in the Carriage and Wagon Workshop, South Lallaguda, Secunderabad and interacted with the employees and representatives of Trade Unions. The SCR General Manager appraised the visiting members of the performance, activities and the improvements made in coach maintenance practices in this Workshop.
Principal Heads of Department and senior officials of South Central Railway were present during the visit of the committee. INN
