Akbar sent back to jail, applies for bail

Adilabad, January 16 : MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi on Wednesday filed a bail petition in the Nirmal Court in connection with the alleged hate speech case registered against him.

The petition was filed by Akbar’s lawyers after the MIM leader was sent back to the Adilablad District Jail in the early hours of Wednesday from the Armed Reserves Headquarters, where he was kept for interrogation since the last four days. Although his police custody period was to end in the evening, police surrendered his day’s custody stating that it has completed the questioning.

After conducted a medical test, Akbaruddin Owaisi was produced before the Nirmal magistrate at about 5 AM and was later sent to judicial remand till January 22.

Meanwhile, the police also filed a petition in the court for seeking permission to send MIM leader’s voice for forensic analysis. A before, Akbaruddin Owaisi had claimed that the voice in the CD was doctored.

Meanwhile, the Patencheru police, have intensified efforts to arrest him in a case registered in 2005 against him for allegedly abusing the then Medak Collector Singhal for taking up road widening works. The Medak Police is planning to bring Akbaruddin Owaisi to Sangareddy on a Prisoner Transit (PT) warrant.
