Muslims are in favour of Telangana, claims Ponnam

Hyderabad, January 6 : Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar on Sunday claimed that Muslims in Telangana region were in favour of statehood for the region.

Talking to reporters here, Ponnam said that the Muslim community in all districts of the region was totally in favour of Telangana. However, he said that Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi was against the statehood demand and he has been trying to give a wrong impression that the entire community was supporting him. He said that MIM’s objection would not prevent the Centre from taking a decision in favour of formation of Telangana State.

The Karimnagar MP also asked the Seemandhra leaders to restrain from making provocative statements on the statehood issue. He also alleged that Eluru MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao was issuing anti-Telangana statements only to exhibition his frustration over denial of berth in the Union Cabinet.
