Hyderabad, Jan 22 (INN): Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya visited and inspected the Advanced Training Institute at Vidyanagar here on Thursday.
The Union Minister enquired about the ongoing training programmes and future proposals of the ATI. Sreenivas Naik, Director Incharge, briefed Dattatreyya about the various on-going training programmes and other activities being undertaken by the Institute.
Dattatreyya informed that this institute is meant for training of trainers. He also informed that there is great demand for the trades of Electrician, Plumbers, Welders, etc., While nearly 4.20 crores unemployed youth are registered with different Employment Exchanges, about 10-12 crore unemployed youth in the villages who are not registered yet. The main reason for growing unemployment is lack of proper skills in various trades, he said.
The Union Minister recalled the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi “Make In India” and said that if industries from outside the country invest in India, there is a great scope for more employment in the country. He said that many countries like Germany, Australia and Russia have shown great interest in our training. They came forward to provide necessary technology and training in this regard, he said.
Speaking with media representatives later, Dattatraya said that there are about 135 trades in the vocational training. These countries would like to have agreement with India giving proper training to the unskilled personnel of this country. He further told that Germany came forward and ready to give training to our personal as they have lot of opportunities/vacancies in the posts of technical area of their country and thus, promised to take these personnel into their country in the trades as above mentioned.
The Union Minister said that there is a great demand for agricultural related vocational courses and he was ready to help the Institute in this regard. He said that the Ministry proposes to establish National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He told that unorganized sectors would be given preference for training in the Institute.
Dattatreyya said that the Parliament has recently passed a Bill providing for stipend to the apprentices in which 50 per cent of the stipend amount would be borne by the Central Government and 50 per cent would be borne by the Micro Small Medium Industry and it is expected to provide Rs 4000/- to Rs. 6000/- stipend opportunities to these apprentices also.
The Union Minister said that this Institute is providing training to BHEL, Rites, Railways, DRDO and all reputed central and state, private establishments and these PSUs are getting benefit out of this training provided by ATI. For the handicapped, training in Cell phone repairs, RAC, AC would be provided. The employment opportunities are available to almost 80 per cent of the disabled persons. It is proposed to give training for 10 lakh personnel in the initial phase. About 35 per cent of women personnel would be given training in Fashion Technology, Tailoring, Embroidery etc.,
Dattatreyya informed that of 3,808 seats available in ITI institutes across Telangana, about 2,109 are filled and still 1609 seats are lying vacant. Likewise, in Andhra Pradesh, of 2,619 seats 1,498 seats are to be filled.
The Union Minister said that a project report may be prepared by the Director keeping in view requirements of infrastructure and machinery for establishment of advanced production and manufacturing training centre as a part of state of art skill development centre, and when the Director asked for about Rs 40-50 Crore for this purpose, the Minister assured that if the project report is prepared suitably, then he was ready to sanction Rs 100 Crore also to establish world class Training institute. He has instructed the ATI Director to submit a detailed report in this regard at the earliest. He also directed the ATI and ATI EPI to train nearly 10,000 people for training in Hyderabad. He informed that he would direct the DG to visit the Institute to go through the project report and take final steps for getting it approved. The Union Minister assured the ATI of all help and assistance to upgrade the Institute into world class institution including arranging infrastructure, funds etc.,
