Increasing number of vehicles causing air pollution: Transport Commissioner

Hyderabad, June 5 : Transport Commissioner of Telangana M Jagdeeshwar blamed the increasing number of vehicles for rise in air pollution in urban areas which is causing various diseases among children and old age people.

Addressing a function in connection with the World Environment Day organised by the Human rights Observers (Affiliated to UNO) at the Somajiguda Press Club here on Thursday, Jagdeeshwar said that there are 74 lakh vehicles in the Telangana State which includes 54 lakh two-wheelers. Of them, there are nearly 30 lakh two wheelers in the GHMC limits. He advised the vehicle owners to pay attention on regular maintenance of their vehicles.

Former judge of AP High Court Justice A Lakshman Rao said that increasing pollution was causing fatal diseases.
