Haj pilgrims to get back Rs 74 lakh airport user charges

Hyderabad, Feb 1 : Minorities Welfare Department Special Secretary Syed Omar Jaleel on Saturday informed that the State Government would repay Rs 74 lakh towards the 50% share of what the Haj pilgrims paid as airport user charges during Haj 2013.

Speaking to media persons at Haj House here, Omar Jaleel said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had promised to 7,756 Haj pilgrims last year that the government would bear 50% of the airport user charges. Fulfilling his promise, the Chief Minister has cleared the concerned file and now it is pending with the Finance Department. He said that the amount would be released soon and the same would be directly deposited in the bank accounts of Haj pilgrims. Once released, each pilgrim would get an amount of Rs 1,910.

With regard to the new Haj House building, Omar Jaleel said that a detailed report would be submitted to the State Government next week and a final decision on the issue would be taken based on the same.
