T-Bill resolution is irrelevant, says Dy CM

Hyderabad, Jan 30 : Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Thursday expressed satisfaction over the completion of debate on State Reorganisation Bill in the State Legislative Assembly.

Speaking to media persons in the Congress Legislature Party office here, Rajanarasimha said that President of India Pranab Mukherjee had sent the Bill to the Assembly for its views and therefore, by concluding the debate, yet another process required for the formation of Telangana State has been completed. He said that the passing of resolution moved by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy under Rule 77 to reject the Bill was irrelevant.

Rajanarasimha said that the most important part was tabling of Bill in the Assembly, participation of 86 MLAs in the debate and submission of 9072 amendments by the members. He said that the resolution moved by the Chief Minister and the House passing the same with a voice vote did not constitute part of the Telangana Bill. Therefore, he said that the people of Telangana should not be worried over the claims of Seemandhra leaders that they have defeated the Bill in the Assembly. In fact, the Telangana legislators have won the battle in the State Assembly. Now the real battle will be fought in the Parliament, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister also condemned Kiran Kumar Reddy for making efforts to stall the Telangana formation process. He alleged that Kiran Kumar Reddy has acted as the Chief Minister of Seemandhra and not whole of Andhra Pradesh. He said that the role played by the Chief Minister would be remembered as the dark episode in the history.

Rajanarasimha referred to the process through which Andhra State was formed. He said that the Andhra State came into existence despite a resolution passed by the Madras Assembly against its formation. Similarly, the resolution passed in the House against State’s bifurcation would have no impact on the formation of Telangana State. INN
