Hyderabad, March 30 (INN): The High Court has directed the Telangana Government to hold the elections for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) at the earliest.
Hearing the Public Interest Litigation filed by M Pamanabha Reddy of Centre for Good Governance, the High Court has refused to buy the State Government’s contention that it need another 246 days to hold the elections. It his counter petition, the GHMC said that another 246 days were needed to complete the process of delimitation of GHCM wards and reserve divisions. It said that the orders for delimitation of wards have already been issued. It assured that the government would conduct the elections by December this year.
However, the High Court directed the government to come up with the possible date for holding polls. Else, it said that it would announce the schedule for elections.
The next hearing on the case is scheduled for hearing on April 6.
