Hyderabad, Feb 16 (INN): Panchayat Raj Minister K Tarakarama Rao on Monday demanded that the Central Government grant Special Status to Telangana State.
Speaking to media persons here, KTR said that the Centre should implement all the provision of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and grant Special Status to Telangana. He claimed that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who is presently in Delhi, has made effective representations to the Centre on issues concerning Telangana State. Besides seeking funds for various projects, he said that the Chief Minister has demanded hastening of clearances for different projects of Telangana State. He hoped that the Centre would provide required assistance to Telangana and announce a special package in the forthcoming budget session of the Parliament.
KTR also reiterated the demand that Centre establish a mega power loom cluster in Sircilla of Karimnagar district. He hoped that the Centre would give clearance to the power loom cluster in the forthcoming budget. He also announced that a special plan is being prepared to prevent suicide by weavers.
