Hyderabad, July 25 : Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has issued instructions to the Managing Director TRANSCO Rizvi to initiate steps immediately for obtaining power from Chattisgarh by way of both long term and medium term basis.
The Chief Minister told the Managing Director to buy 1000MW power from Chattisgarh government by entering into a memorandum of understanding with Chattisgarh State Power Distribution Company and entering into PPA for Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCL) lines.
Chandrasekhar Rao also said to obtain 1500 MW of power through dedicated lines and the tenders are to be called for to draw lines. In addition the Chief Minister wants them to negotiate to have 2000MW power on medium term basis from Chattisgarh to meet immediate needs for a five years period. The TRANSCO Managing Director has been advised to get connected constantly with the Chattisgarh government for this purpose. The Chief Minister said that Chattisgarh has surplus of power and in a position to spare to other states and it is the only state from where Telangana can obtain power.
