Hyderabad, May 29 : The day-long bandh call given by Telangana Rashtra Samithi, in protest against the Centre’s reported move to bring an ordinance merging 136 villages in seven mandals of Khammam district for Polavaram Project, has hit the normal life in all 10 districts of Telangana on Thursday.
The impact of bandh call was severe in all districts except the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. While all shops and establishments remained closed, the buses of state-owned Road Transport Corporation went off the roads in all 10 districts including Hyderabad. Most of the petrol bunks too remained close across Telangana.
Thin attendance was reported in government and private offices due to Telangana Bandh on Thursday.
The Osmania University has postponed all its exams, scheduled on Thursday, in view of Telangana Bandh. The PGECT too has been postponed and rescheduled to May 31. The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has postponed the Intermediate Advance Supplementary Examination scheduled on Thursday.
The TRS leaders have staged protest outside the RTC depots since early Thursday and a few leaders were also taken into preventive custody by the police. INN
