Hyderabad, May 27 : As many as 150 senior level officers selected from the Tri-services of the Armed Forces and also a few officers from Coast Guard and friendly foreign countries are attending the Higher Defence Management Course–10 which commenced on Tuesday at the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad.
The 44 weeks long residential course aims at to train the officers in modern management concept and methodology and its application at directional level in command and staff appointments.
Speaking after inaugurating the course, Lt Gen Sandeep Singh, Commandant Army War College, said that the armed forces, being a constituent of national power have to leverage indigenous technology and instill contemporary management thought, concepts to further boost the cause of national security. He emphasized the need for developing and sustaining knowledge centric Armed Forces with shared awareness, apt in decision making under conditions of uncertainty and risk. He also stressed that participants are in the transitory process of moving from functional to the directional levels of hierarchy, and the training at CDM would equip them to meet the demands of efficient management of human and material resources in an integrated defence framework.
