Hyderabad, May 24 : Andhra Pradesh Youth Congress president Vamsi Chandra Reddy on Saturday held the senior leaders of Telangana Congress responsible for party’s dismal performance in the region in the recent elections.
Addressing a meeting of APYC activits at Gandhi Bhavan, Vamsi said that senior leaders were confined to a few constituencies and did not organise a centralised campaign in the region. He said the leaders were more interested in securing tickets for their relatives. Later, they limited themselves to one or two constituencies and left other candidates to their fate.
Vamsi, who won from Kalwakurthy Assembly constituency with a small margin of 77 votes, said that the Congress High Command took the risk of bifurcating Andhra Pradesh while knowing fully well that it would lose elections in Seemandhra. However, the Telangana Congress leaders failed to capatalise the achievement of getting statehood for Telangana due to their own differences. He demanded that the Congress High Command should review the party’s performance and find out the reasons that led to party’s defeat. He said corrective steps should be taken on immediate basis to revive party from the grass root level. INN
