President appoints Modi as Prime Minister, Oath taking ceremony on May 26

New Delhi, May 20 : A delegation of 15 members of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by BJP President Rajnath Singh met President Pranab Mukherjee here on Tuesday.

The other members of the delegation were Lal Krishna Advani, Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Sushma Swaraj, Venkaiah Naidu, Arun Jaitley, Nitin Gadkari, Ananth Kumar, Thavar Chand Gehlot, Prakash Singh Badal, Chandrababu Naidu, Uddhav Thakrey, Ram Vilas Paswan, Neiphu Rio and Sukhbir Singh Badal. A letter stating that Narendra Modi has been elected as Leader of BJP Parliamentary Party was handed over to the President.

Later, Narendra Modi, Leader of the BJP Parliamentary Party, called on the President. As Modi has been elected leader of the BJP Parliamentary Party and BJP has the majority support in the House of the People, the President appointed Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India and requested him to advise the names of others to be appointed Members of the Council of Ministers.

The President will administer the Oath of Office and Secrecy on May 26 at 6 PM at Rashtrapati Bhavan.  INN
