Hyderabad, May 19 : The Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) has strongly condemned the meeting of Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) MLAs with the MIM leaders seeking their support in the formation of new government in Telangana.
In a media statement, MBT leader Amjed Ullah Khan (Corporator) said that it was ridiculous that the TRS was seeking the support of MIM which strongly opposed the formation of Telangana at all levels. It is a well known fact that MIM supported the Seemandhra lobby till the last minute and openly objected to the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. He said the TRS MLAs should have visited the families of Telangana martyrs after winning the elections. But by visiting the residence of anti-Telangana MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, TRS MLAs, especially K Taraka Rama Rao not only hurt the sentiments of Pro-Telangana people, but insulted the martyrs of Telangana, he said.
Amjed Ullah Khan alleged that TRS MLAs’ proximity with the MIM was aimed at misleading the Muslim Community in Telangana region. “TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao has promised to give the Deputy Chief Minister post to a Muslim. By taking MIM’s support, he wants to backtrack on his promise. Further, KCR promised to give 12 per cent reservation for Muslims, protection of Wakf properties, promotion of Urdu language and other assurances. However, by aligning with the MIM, KCR is trying to adopt an appeasement policy and ignore fulfillment of the promises,” he alleged.
The MBT leader said that KCR was making a mistake by aligning with the MIM. He said the same mistake was committed by previous Chief Ministers N Chandrababu Naidu, late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and then N Kiran Kumar Reddy. They allied with the MIM and caused heavy damage to the Muslim community. “KCR must realize that MIM leaders have always allied with the party-in-power for their own personal gains. They somehow lure the ruling party and exploit it till their demands are met. Once they realize that the ruling party is losing popularity, they switch their loyalties. They never remained loyal with any single political party,” he said.
Amjed Ullah Khan said that the MIM’s alliance with the TRS was aimed at stopping the drive started by Wakf Board Special Officer Shaik Mohammad Iqbal against erring and corrupt Mutawallis. Several Mutawallis who sold away prime Wakf lands are all set to face criminal action for their illegal activities. However, by aligning with the TRS, the MIM is planning to protect the encroachers of Wakf property, he said.
The MBT leader claimed that the MIM was not the sole representative of Muslim Community in Telangana. “Although MIM won a few seats in Hyderabad through corrupt practices in recent elections, it does not represent the entire Muslim community of Telangana region. Therefore, KCR and TRS should not make the mistake of having an alliance with the MIM at the cost of compromising on the real issues concerning Muslim community,” he said. INN
