Vijayawada, May 9 : Commissioner for Disaster Management (CDM) C Partha Sarathi asked the coastal engineering staff to rededicate themselves to complete the World Bank sponsored prestigious National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project (NCRMP) within timeline.
The CDM held a NCRMP state level review meeting on Friday at the Collector’s Camp Office here. He added that with 584 works under the project, the NCRMP is a very prestigious project of our State. As part of the meeting, Mr Partha Sarathi directed the higher officials and staff of Panchayatraj, Roads and Buildings and Irrigation & CAD departments to expedite the execution of NCRMP works in West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasham districts. He announced that the World Bank has sanctioned Rs. 395 crore of additional finance to the state to improve disaster mitigation infrastructure in 9 coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh under National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project (NCRMP).
Partha Sarathi reviewed work wise, physical and financial progress of four districts. He encouraged line department engineers to concentrate on execution of the works timely and accelerate the project while ensuring quality. He emphasised that the works should be completed by February 2015.
He further explained that with additional finance to the NCRMP, the government is going to execute 174 new works including 84 Multi Purpose Cyclone Shelter (MPCS) buildings, 75 Roads to cyclone shelters (RCS), 12 bridges and 3 major roads in all nine coastal districts of AP. The CDM has expanded that with the additional finance, the Government has proposed to construct 31 MPCS buildings, 46 Roads to cyclone shelters (RCS) and ten major bridges in Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and in West Godavari Districts.
The CDM encouraged the Superintending Engineers (SEs) and Executive Engineers (EEs) to visit the sites before preparation of the estimate for NCRMP works. He directed officials to submit social and environmental clearances, DPRs by on time in this month. Mr. Partha Sarathi also collected suggestions from line department engineers to complete NCRMP works at the earliest. He directed District Collector Krishna, to take immediate necessary action to ground Gilakaladindi MPCS work as early as possible. He ordered the concerned officials to submit kruthivennu saline embankment bid evaluation report to Government, and suggested officers to complete the tender process for Campbell Canal Bridge work as early as possible.
Krishna District Collector M Raghunandan Rao directed the concerned engineering staff to complete and submit pre-execution work at the earliest.
