Keep Assembly building ready by May 20: Governor

Hyderabad, May 6 : Governor ESL Narasimhan on Tuesday directed the senior officials to personally monitor the progress of work related to the allotment and upkeep of the chambers meant for elected governments. He also instructed the Legislative Secretary Dr S. Raja Sadaram, to take appropriate steps to keep ready the Legislative Assembly and Council halls and complete the civil works before May 20, latest.

At a high-level meeting held at Sudharma block, Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday, the officials presented the physical assets (buildings) allocation, space allocation for different departments in the Secretariat, reorganization of Police buildings, in the wake of the AP Reorganization Act 2014 coming into force on June 2.

Earlier, the Governor accepted all the proposals made by different committees constituted in the wake of AP Reorganization Act 2014 and asked the Chief Secretary to submit them to the Centre. The Governor advised the Chief Secretary and other senior officials to prepare a list of issues to be presented before the Union Home Secretary who is likely to visit Hyderabad in the second week of May.

Pradeep Chandra, Spl Chief Secretary, presented a report on the measures to be adopted for the progress and development of successor States under the Schedule XIII and Section 93.

The Schedule XIII details on Education and Infrastructure proposals and 12 (twelve) new infrastructure projects.

Sambob, Prl Secretary, has briefed the Governor on the allotment of buildings at the Secretariat and said, minimum dislocation from the existing premises was followed in allotment of buildings to various heads of department in the Secretariat. The committee has interacted with all HoDs in respect of apportioning the office space, he narrated. There are 179 departments located in Hyderabad, he said.

He has informed that, A, B, C, D blocks in the Secretariat would be allotted to the Telangana State and H, K, L blocks to the AP State.

After examining various alternatives, the security wing has proposed Lake View guest house to be earmarked as the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s camp office. Similarly, the Committee has proposed to convert the Jubilee Hall to convene the first session of the Legislative Council of the Andhra Pradesh. All civil works taken up in the Secretariat and Legislative Assembly are in progress and the works will be completed before the schedule date, he said.

Nagi Reddy, Prl Secretary, presented the Contracts Committee’s recommendations. He said the data base of all existing contracts can be best used by both the successor States by developing online system to monitor the physical and financial progress on a monthly basis and linking it to bills management system.

The Resident Commissioner, Andhra Bhavan, New Delhi has submitted the proposals of allotment of existing rooms as per guidelines to the new states.
