Hyderabad, April 16 : Air Marshal AP Garud, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Air Command, Indian Air Force who arrived yesterday on a three day visit to Hyderabad, has inspected different units at Air Force Station, Hakimpet and interacted with the personnel besides assessing the operational aspects.
On his arrival Air Commodore Sanjeev Raj, Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Air Force Station received him. Later, a ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented to him by an Air Force Contingent. He is accompanied by his wife Smt Sulochana Garud, who is the President of Air Force Wives’ Welfare Association (Regional). Air Marshal AP Garud will be visiting Air Force Academy, Dundigal tomorrow to inspect different aspects.
Air Marshal Garud is an alumnus of National Defence Academy Khadakwasala and was commissioned in to the Helicopter stream of the Indian Air Force in Dec 1976. The Air Marshal has flown in excess of 6100 hours on various helicopters and trainer aircrafts.
In his distinguished career spanning over 37 years, the Air Marshal has commanded several prestigious operational bases and units besides a stint as IG (Air) Border Security Force overlooking flying operations. He has also held the critical appointments of Director General (Inspection & Safety) at Air Headquarters and Senior Air Staff Officer at Training Command before his present appointment. INN
