Nellore, March 9 : BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday claimed that only Bharatiya Janata Party could bring faster and overall development in the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing a public meeting titled “Modi for PM” here, Venkaiah Naidu said that immediate steps would be taken for the faster develompent of Seemandhra if BJP returns to power at the Centre after ensuing elections. He promised that the BJP would extend the Special Category Status for Seemandhra from five to 10 years. He said several other sops would also be announced to promote industries and economic activities in both Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions.
Venkaiah Naidu said that the BJP was firm on its commitment for smaller States and would ensure the equal development of Telangana and Seemandhra States. He also asked Union Minister Jairam Ramesh to explain as to how the Centre proposed to mobilise Rs 50,000 crore that he promised to give for the development of Seemandhra region.
The BJP leader was also critical of the proposed political party by former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy although he welcomed the plans of cine actor Pavan Kalyan to float a new party if he wishes to serve the public.
Venkaiah Naidu also announced that neither he, nor his family members would contest the ensuing general elections. INN
