KCR seeks media support to rebuild Telangana

Hyderabad, March 9 : Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday sought the active support of media in re-building the Telangana State.

Addressing the “Telangana Journalists Jathara” organised by Telangana Union of Working Journalists at Exhibition Grounds here, KCR praised the role played by journalists from Telangana region during the statehood movement. He appealed to the journalist to exhibit the same zeal in re-building the Telangana State. The development of Telangana and making the State stand on its feet would be a major challenge. He said except for Hyderabad and parts of Ranga Reddy, all other districts of Telangana remained backward during the rule of “Andhra” rulers in the last 57 years.

KCR alleged that the Andhra media was carrying out false propaganda that the industries and investments would go away from Hyderabad and the region due to the formation of Telangana region. He exhorted the Telangana journalist to counter the false propaganda with the factual reporting.

The TRS chief promised that the Telangana Government would allot houses for journalists, provide accreditation cards to all the scribes while extending them all other benefits including free bus travel. He also assured that cases booked against journalists during the Telangana agitation would be withdrawn.

KCR released the logo of Telangana Union of Working Journalists on the occasion. He also released the newspaper “Telangana Live” being brought out by journalist Zakir.

Earlier, former minister K Jana Reddy, BJP State President G Kishan Reddy, CPI State Secretary Dr Narayana and other leaders also addressed the meeting and called upon the journalists to play an active role in the development of Telangana State.   INN
