Kamareddy, March 2 : Describing Sonia Gandhi as “Telangana Talli”, Senior Congress leader on Sunday stated that the entire credit for formation of Telangana State goes to the AICC President.
Addressing a massive thanksgiving meeting at College Grounds in Kamareddy, senior leaders including former ministers Mohammad Ali Shabbir and Sudarshan Reddy, Zaheerabad MP Suresh Kumar Shetkar and other leaders said that Telangana became a reality only due to the efforts of Congress party and Sonia Gandhi. Shetkar explained the obstacles that the Congress leadership crossed to fulfill its promise of Telangana. He condemned the TDP and YSRCP for trying to obstruct the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. He also alleged that BJP too tried to stop the Telangana Bill in Rajya Sabha.
Sudarshan Reddy said that it was the Congress party which brought Telangana and only Congress could ensure development of new State. He praised Shabbir Ali for the drinking water scheme, which was launched in Kamareddy on Sunday. Over 3.34 lakh people living in 219 drought affected villages would benefit from the scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, Shabbir Ali said that the drinking and irrigation water facilities and proper supply would change the face of entire Telangana region. He said that it was Sonia Gandhi who gave statehood to the region and now a real homage to the martyrs of Telangana would be to ensure overall development of the new State.
He said that Congress leaders did everything possible to get Telangana. He reminded that he was even forced to approach State BJP President G Kishan Reddy seeking his party’s support for Telangana Bill.
Shabbir Ali said that Sonia Gandhi made several sacrifices to give Telangana. He said that the people of Telangana would never forget her contribution and the commitment that the AICC President has exhibited to keep up her promise. He said that while the BJP was trying to take credit for Telangana, a “one MP” party was also staking claim for the credit.
Shabbir Ali also listed out the schemes that were launched due to his initiative. He said that the CPWS Scheme meant to provide drinking water to Kamareddy was initially considered an impossible task. However, the scheme was launched although it got delayed due to some technical glitches. INN
