Hyderabad, Feb 21 : The Army authority in Secunderabad has taken a decision to regulate traffic on all the internal roads within the military area. While doing so, no primary roads of any civil colonies adjoining the Army area have been affected. Alternate routes for all civil colonies, institutes and other services are existing/ and open.
According to a press release, due care has been taken to allow the public transport, Ambulances, Emergency vehicles, School buses including school children travelling in private mode of transport like Auto-rickshaw & vans. This has been informed to the environment including civil administration and police well in advance.
The cantonment houses various important military establishments including Army Ordnance Corps (AOC) Centre which is a major training establishment in Secunderabad. Further, the movement of service personnel and transport on these roads has severely affected and hampering the training in these establishments. There have also been traffic accidents occurring on the roads almost on daily basis. The Defence roads are narrow and are not capable of sustaining the traffic which has grown manifolds.
The measures proposed to be taken to regulate traffic include installation of traffic signals and traffic regulation on regular basis. The Civil administration has been approached to develop flyovers outside the cantonment boundaries and give under pass for commuting by the civil population. The decision to regulate civil and military traffic had been taken long back and is only being implemented with due deliberations. The existing alternate routes are available for smooth flow of the civil traffic, the Army said in a press release.
The public at large has been requested to understand the need of army perse to conduct its training in their respective areas as well as the security concerns of the military establishments. INN
