Hyderabad, Feb 20 : Seemandhra Legislator Forum Convener S Sailajanath on Thursday defended the resignation of Kiran Kumar Reddy from the post of Chief Minister.
Speaking to media persons in the Assembly premises, Sailajanath said that Kiran Kumar Reddy has resigned in protest against the decision of Congress party to divide Andhra Pradesh. He claimed that the Chief Minister’s resignation was aimed at highlighting the plight of Seemandhra people and he was successful in his efforts.
Stating that he did not resign from the Congress party, Sailajanath said that he would announce his future plans at an appropriate time. When asked about who would be elected as the leader if the Congress Legislature Party meeting was convened, he said it would be known after the Congress party convenes the meeting.
He also slammed the Centre for passing the Telangana Bill in the Lok Sabha in an “unconstitutional manner”. He said that the Seemandhra MPs were denied an opportunity to speak about the concerns of the people that they represent. INN
