Chief Secretary, Mayor inspects beautification of Mir Alam Tank

Hyderabad, Feb 14 : Chief Secretary Dr PK Mohanty, GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain and other senior officials inspected the beautification works of Mir Alam Tank here on Friday.

Those who participated in the inspection include GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, Hyderabad Collector Mukesh Kumar Meena, HMWSSB MD J Syamala Rao and others. During the inspection, the Commissioner presented the survey and concept details of the Mir Alam Tank. The Chief Secretary gone through the concept maps and other development plans of G.H.M.C and visited the Mir Alam Tank site, along the ring bund.

The Commissioner explained the development works being initiated by G.H.M.C. and informed that, an amount of about Rs 5 crore has been sanctioned for various components of Mir Alam Tank protection and beautification.

On completion of the inspection, the Chief Secretary appreciated GHMC for the initiatives taken up in respect of Mir Alam tank development activities. He expressed his satisfaction on the components of GHMC plan and further suggested the following measures: A comprehensive master plan to be developed for the conservation and beautification of Mir Alam Tank; To send the proposal for constitution of “Mir Alam Tank Development Authority” under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Commissioner, G.H.M.C. shall be the VC&MD; To take up the development and beautification of three islands of Mir Alam Tank; To take up all such activities for complete diversion & treatment of Sewerage being let into / flowing into Mir Alam Tank and to send a proposal for allocation of Rs.50 crore for development of Mir Alam Tank over next 3 years with sharing of funds from Irrigation Department (Rs.25 crores) and G.H.M.C. (Rs.25 crores).

The Chief Secertary also asked the GHMC to send the proposal for constitution of “Musi River Development Authority” under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Commissioner, G.H.M.C. shall be the nodal officer; To explore the possibilities of extending the ring bund to the balance area i.e., adjacent to Zoo Park and to take up dredging / desilting to improve the water holding capacity of the lake.  INN
