Hyderabad, Feb 14 : Former Minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Friday demanded that a case under SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act be booked against Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal for insulting a Dalit Speaker (Meira Kumar).
Speaking to media persons here, Shankar Rao said that the statements being issued by Lagadapati and other MPs from Seemandhra region were aimed at insulting the Lok Sabha Speaker, who is a Dalit. Therefore, he said that a case should be immediately booked against the MPs under the SC, ST Act.
Shankar Rao also asked Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to explain as to why he did not resign even after the tabling of Telangana Bill in the Lok Sabha. He said that the Chief Minster was delaying his resignation on one pretext or the other. He also asked the BJP to clarify its stand on Telangana Bill. INN
