Band total, success; Naidu should join Feb 17 protest: YSRCP

Hyderabad, Feb 14 : YSR Congress has said that the bandh in protest against the manner in which the division Bill was rushed in to Parliament was total and success and appealed to all parties and democratic forces that believe in democracy to take part in the February 17 dharna to be held in New Delhi.

“The bandh in the state is total and a success. People were very emotional as gross injustice is being done to the State with 75 % of the people opposing the Bill. Barring a few stray incidents the bandh was peaceful and total,” party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters here on Friday.

The dharna at Jantar Mantar on Monday would be the battle between Delhi arrogance and Telugu self pride and latter will be the eventual winner. “This is the right time for all the democratic forces to join hands and fight out the divisive politics of Congress and the dharna should echo in the Parliament and force the Congress biggies and Sonia Gandhi to change their minds,” she said.

She also appealed to TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu to join the protest and be categorical in his stand. He should also issue a whip and ask his leaders to be united and take a single stand in the Parliament.

The national and regional parties have expressed solidarity with our Party and our leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been persistently raising his voice for a united state and has been working hard to mobilise public opinion in favour of a united state, she said.

Two trains will leave for Delhi on Saturday (February 15), one from Renugunta covering the cadre, sympathisers and leaders of Nellore, Chittoor, YSR Kadapa, Ananthapur, Kurnool, Mahbubnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Ranaga Reddy and Hyderabad districts. The other train starting from Rajahmundry will ferry the supporters from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Khammam, Karimnagar and Adilabad districts, she said.

The timing of the dharna is appropriate and is not in the last minute reaction. The dharna is being held on the day the Bill issue will be raised in the Lok Sabha, she added.   INN
