Hyderabad, Feb 13 : Labour Minister Danam Nagender on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the development of road from Banjara Hills, Road No. 2 to Jubilee Hills, Road No. 5 (Krishna Nagar Junction) via Annapurna Studio with an estimated cost of Rs 720 lakhs.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the road was sanctioned following a proposal given by Jubilee Hills Corporator Mamidi Laxmi Bai. He said that with the construction of road and 2-way ramp with RE walls, one via duct structure to be provided for this road, with this the link, Krishna Nagar traffic and part of traffic between Banjara Hills to Jubilee Hills will shift to this road as there will be considerable savings in terms of travel time and VOC (Vehicle Operation Cost) as the present proposal will reduce the distance and also reduce traffic congestion on Srinagar main road and Jubilee Hills, Road No. 5 and further this will be useful during construction of Metro Rail work as alternative route.
Nagender requested Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain to take up the proposals in the Standing Committee for naming of the road after famous Telugu film Actor Dr. Akkineni Nageshwar Rao and also to install a statue of Dr. Akkineni Nageshwar Rao at Film Nagar in view of his yeoman services to the Telugu film world and him being a Hyderabadi. He said that all Hyderabadis are proud of the great film artist who has brought many laurels including winning Dada Saheb Phalke award for his contribution to the film world.
The Minister further said that the great actor has made serious efforts to bring the entire Cine field from Chennai to Hyderabad. There was only one film studio by name Saradhi Studio in Hyderabad, Dr Akkineni Nageshwar Rao has constructed Annapurna Studio for the film community and boosted city’s image in the film world.
The Mayor, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar and senior officials from Engineering, Town Planning and Health Wings have participated in the programme. INN
