Hyderabad, Feb 8 : GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain has laid the foundation stone for construction of road / ramp to mid landing of steps of Moulali Dargah in Malkajgiri Circle here on Saturday.
The Mayor said that in the month of June 2013, he along with other leaders visited the historic shrine of Moulali where it was been decided to provide ramp to the top of the hill as most of the pilgrims were facing lot of inconvenience while climbing top of the hill.
Majid Hussain praised the Engineering officials for their tremendous efforts for preparing estimates in a very short period with a wonderful proposal for construction of road / ramp to mid landing of steps of Moulali Dargah. He said that administrative sanction was accorded by the Standing Committee for the construction of the said ramp with a cost of Rs. 168.32 lakhs for 1st phase. He further stated that the work is in tender process and the work will be completed within a span of 6 to 7 months.
Malkajgiri MLA Akula Rajender said that many people from various parts of the Country are visiting this place and praised the Mayor for taking this initiative for the convenience of the pilgrims. He also said that not only Muslims but all types of people from various religions are visiting this historic place and it is a good concept that the GHMC has taken up.
Charminar MLA Ahmed Pasha Quadri thanked the Mayor and GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar for taking up this initiative duly helping the pilgrims to visit without any hard ships while climbing the steps. He further requested the Commissioner to direct the concerned officials to complete the project at the earliest for the convenience of the public.
Speaking on the occasion, Somesh Kumar said that this is a very famous shrine where many people all over the World are visiting and keeping in view of the importance of the historic place, the GHMC has taken up this initiative to construct the ramp for the convenience of the citizens to mitigate the hardships of the pilgrims in climbing the steps who are visiting the shrine. The ramp will be in a type of CC road around 300 metres with a width of carriage way of 6 meters along with the retaining wall as per the need.
The Commissioner further stated that various options were worked out by the GHMC Engineers to have a approach to the top of the Dargah but the available steep slope of the rock does not facilitate laying of the road, hence initially it is proposed to have approach road till the mid landing.
