Applications invited for Dr. K.V. Rao Research Awards

Hyderabad, Feb 8 : Dr. K. V. Rao Scientific Society, which has been established to preserve basic research and to nurture scientific talent in youth invites application forms for the 14th Annual Dr. K.V. Rao Research Awards for Research Scholars and Doctorates for the year 2013-2014.

The eligible candidates must be below thirty years of age, according to a press release.

The awards will be presented for outstanding research work by young scientists working in basic sciences which include Chemistry and allied sciences(which include Geochemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Biochemistry,Chemical membranes, Marine Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Polymers, etc.), Biological Sciences( includes Pharmaceutical Sciences, Genetics, Plant Sciences, Medicine, Agriculture, Nutrition, Cellular Biology, Microbiology, etc), Physics(includes Material Science, Solid State Physics, Nano Technology, Computational Physics, Particle Physics, Laser Optics, etc.) and Mathematics(which includes Algebra, Geometry, Applied Mathematics, Complex Analysis, Calculus, Statistics and Probability, etc.).

The Winners in each category receive a cash award of Rs.20,000/- only and a trophy while the runners-up shall be given Rs.10,000/- only each along with a trophy.

The awards are meant to be encouraging Young Scientists to inculcate deep interest in research and improve their abilities in the feild of their choice. A panel of judges comprising of eminent scientists will evaluate the research papers and select the candidates.

The candidates should be either registered in Andhra Pradesh Universities or working in Andhra Pradesh Universities / research organisations. Should have completed or should be carrying out research work in any of the Universities / Deemed Universities / other Research. Institutions situated in the State of Andhra Pradesh and registered in any recognised University in India. (Candidates registered in any recognised University in Andhra Pradesh & working in any Research Institutions anywhere in India are also eligible.). The research paper to be presented for the award should be part of his / her doctoral research work carried out or being carried out by the candidate. A certificate from the supervisor to this effect is to be submitted along with the application.
