Hyderabad, Feb 4 : GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain said that he would be interacting with various Nationalized bank officials to open a separate bank for Women in the division.
The Mayor along with Nampally MLA Virasat Rasool Khan, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar and Additional Joint Collector Rekha Rani held an interaction programme with the SHG women in Ahmednagar Community hall on Tuesday. He suggested and requested the Commissioner to put up the proposals for establishment of a MEE SEVA Centre in the Ahmed Nagar division for the convenience of the citizens to avail 230 services under one roof at their door step.
Majid Hussain said that he is proposing Project 72 in Ward No. 72, Ahmed Nagar, which is a unique project which is being taken up on pilot basis and the main focus of the project is that every house hold (Woman) must come forward to participate in the various schemes to earn their livelihood and to take part in the programmes for the development of the division with the help of various Non Governmental Organisations. The main objective of the project is to aim at Women’s welfare schemes, Health care, Skill development livelihood trainings, Economic empowerment, Hygiene/Nutrition, Environment, Literary &cultural and Child care.
The Mayor said he is very enthusiastic about Project 72 and seeking the support of the community, NGOs, Commissioner, GHMC and he wants to put this project on the national map as a model to be replicated. Approximately there are 14,000 women population in Ward No. 72 out of which 70% women are in below poverty line, nearly 60 SHG groups have been formed but only 20 are functioning, only 25% of the population are employed, the Mayor said. It has been noticed that Diabetes and blood pressure rampant among women, only 5% women have access to government schemes, no social activities or interaction have been done so far, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Virasat Rasool Khan said that the Mayor has taken up a very unique project in the division helping the women to earn and to have a self sufficient. He has praised the Mayor at the very young age has taken lot of issues for the development of the Ahmed Nagar division where lot of works pertaining to roads, parks, community hall, gym and other activities from the last 4 years in the division.
The GHMC Commissioner said that he is feeling very proud to be participating in such a innovative and unique programme for the development of the people in the Ward No., 72 of H.W. Mayor’s division. The Commissioner said that the Mayor in a very young age is doing lot of work for the development of the Ahmed Nagar division and he is also managing all the Corporators and cooperating with the officials in developing the GHMC in all angles.
The Commissioner appealed all the residents of the Ahmed Nagar division to come forward and to utilize the opportunities / schemes provided to them under this project and GHMC. The Commissioner further said that for those women who are interested to take up the business such as tent house, catering, stitching and various other women related skills, the GHMC will provide all necessary help duly coordinating with various non-governmental organisations to take up various schemes for the benefit of the people of the division.
