Hyderabad, Jan 22 : Congress MLA P Vishnuvardhan Reddy on Wednesday accused the Seemandhra leaders of encroaching upon the assets of Telangana, especially Hyderabad.
Participating in the debate on State Reorganisation Bill in the State Legislative Assembly, Vishnuvardhan Reddy said that the several assets and opportunities of Telangana people have been encroached upon by the people from Seemandhra region. Citing instances, he said that people from Seemandhra region took land on lease to built Annapurna Studio and other studio. However, later they encroached upon those assets; he alleged adding that the Telangana labourers and technicians were denied their due share.
The Jubilee Hills MLA also claimed that actor Jairaj from Warangal was the first Telugu to receive Dada Saheb Phalke Award and not Akkeneni Nageshwar Rao.
Vishnuvardhan Reddy also opposed making Hyderabad as the joint capital for both the State. Stating that people from both the regions could not live together even for six months, he said that Hyderabad should be the joint capital for not more than two years.
He also dismissed fears that the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh would strengthen communal forces. He said Muslims and Hindus have been living in harmony in Telangana region since many centuries and would continue to do so in future. He said that the Bonalu festival was patronised by all Muslim rulers and Asaf Jahi rulers used to sent presents to the deity of Bhadrachalam temple. He strongly condemned Legislative Affairs Minister S Sailajanath for criticising Nizam and alleged that the minister tried to distort history and facts. INN
