Hyderabad, Jan 10 : The ongoing debate on the AP State Reorganisation Bill 2013 in the State Legislative Assembly triggered interesting exchange of allegations between the leaders of major political parties.
Participating in the debate, TRS floor Etela Rajender pointed out that there has been no Advocate General from Telangana region in the State. This provoked Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to intervene on the issue. “There were four Chief Ministers from Telangana region and why they did not appoint an Advocate General from their region?” he asked.
Further, the Chief Minister claimed that when a leader from Telangana became Prime Minister (PV Narasimha Rao), then the people of Seemandhra got him elected to the Lok Sabha from their region (Nandyal seat). However, these references incited TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and he alleged that the Congress party mistreated the Telugu leader and hurt the Telugu pride. He said that the same PV Narasimha Rao’s body was neither taken to the AICC Headquarters nor he was given space in the national capital for performing last rites. He said it was the TDP that took care of maintaining Telugu pride during its tenure.
Replying to the Chief Minister’s remarks, Etela said that the four chief ministers from Telangana region together ruled the State only for six years and four months. Whereas, right from Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy to Kiran Kumar Reddy, it were the Seemandhra leader who ruled the State for rest of the period. INN
