Official spokes person of DKSZC surrendered

Hyderabad, Jan 9 : Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) Official Spokes Person of CPI (Maoist) Gummudavelli Venkata Kishan Prasad @ Malu @ Premlal @ Amar @ Hari @ Sukhdev @ Gudsa Usendi, alongwith his wife Santhoshi Markam @ Jaini, Divisional Committee Member of DKSZC Press Unit has surrendered to Police. GVK Prasad was also DKSZC State Committee Member and Incharge of Propoganda and Press Unit.

GVK Prasad belongs to Kadavendi village of Devaruppula mandal of Warangal district. His wife Santhoshi Markam is native of Kopra village of Kondagoan district of Chattisgarh. GVK Prasad was arrested along with 6 others in 1987 in Arms case in Vishakapatnam. The extremists abducted 7 IAS officers demanding their release. He had to be released on bail on 30th December 1987. Born in 1968, he completed SSC in 1982 from Devaruppula High School. He discontinued Inter 2nd year at Hyderabad. Though he was attracted to the Maoist Party ideology while in High School itself, he joined the Party in 1985.

He was arrested and released on bail in the same year in Kundaram arson case. Under the ideological influence of Yerram Reddy Santhosh Reddy, Purushotham Reddy, more particularly Damodar Reddy, he joined the Party as a full time member in 1986. He was sent to Rajahmundry, where he worked as Courier to Nambala Keshava rao @ Ganganna, now the Central Committee Member.

After release on bail in 1987, he worked as Dalam Member in Thandava Dalam. Later he was shifted to Bhalaghat Dalam and worked in it from 1990 to 1993. He was shifted to DKSZC in 1996 to run the Party Magazine “Prabhat”.

In 2000 he became the Incharge of the Press Unit of the Special Zonal Committee besides continuing as the Official Spokesperson of the DKSZC with a different name as Gudsa Ussendi since 2006. He has been working in the Propaganda Team of the Party since 2009.

He has decided to leave the Maoist Party due to differences with the Central Committee on the party policies and tactics and has been discussing about the same in Party fora on several occasions since 2007. He opposed the destruction of school buildings, blasting of high tension power transmission lines and roads and indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians by branding them as police informers. He informed the party and now he along with his wife surrendering before the police. He also surrendered because of ill health of himself and his wife.

PROFILE OF SANTHOSHI MARKAM @ JAINI:

She is native of Kopra village of Kondagoan district of Chattisgarh State. She was attracted to the ideology of Maoist Party while she was studying in high school. She joined the Party as ‘Dalam’ member of Maad Division in 1999. She was transferred to DKSZC Press Unit in 2001 and later elevated as Area Committee Member (ACM). In 2009 she was appointed as Commander and was again transferred to DKSZC Press Unit in 2012.

Rs.20 Lakh reward on GVK Prasad @ Gudsa Ussendi: DGP
DKSZC Official Spokesperson GVK Prasad @ Gudsa Ussendi will be handed over the reward of Rs.20 Lakh which is on his name. As part of the Government’s policy, all surrendered UG cadre will be given the reward amount to facilitate their rehabilitation.
At present 275 Maoists are underground. When a Central Committee Member surrenders, he will be given a reward of Rs.25 lakh, where as a State Committee Member will get a reward of Rs.20 lakh, the District Committee Secretary gets Rs.8 lakh, the District Committee Member gets Rs.5 lakh, the Area Committee Secretary gets Rs.4 lakh, an Area Committee Member gets Rs.2 lakh and a Dalam Member will receive a reward of Rs.1 lakh.

Besides handing over the reward, the Government will take all necessary measures to usher in a new lease of life and enable them to lead a life of respect and dignity.
