Hyderabad, Jan 4 : GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has directed the Zonal Commissioners, Special Officers and Deputy Commissioners to focus on top defaulters from whom 80 per cent of the revenue is due and who comprises of only 20 per cent of total property tax assessments.
The Commissioner along with GHMC Special Commissioner Navin Mittal held a review meeting on revenues with the Zonal Commissioners, Special Officers, Deputy Commissioners and Valuation Officers in Panwar Hall, GHMC, Head Office today. The Commissioner directed to work more proactively, strategically and collectively (from top to bottom positions) while collecting property tax, concentrate more on the areas where much money is due and further said that getting money from biggest defaulter is his responsibility.
Somesh Kumar has informed that Rs. 1779 crores is the demand for the year 2013-14, target is Rs. 1232 crores and till 3rd January, 2014 GHMC could collect Rs. 500 crores. He said that 41% is the GHMCs average collection out of the target and there are 9 circles collected below the average, they are Circles 3, 4, 5,6,7,8,9,10 and 17. The Commissioner further said that the percentage of collection and growth in new assessments is co-related, the Deputy Commissioners who lacked in percentage of property tax collection is lacking in conducting survey to assess new properties and directed to concentrate more on this subject.
The Commissioner said that only 86 days are left and GHMC has to collect Rs. 831 lakhs every day to reach the get target as on 3rd January 2014. He further directed the Deputy Municipal Commissioners to reorganize bill collectors by allotting equal docket numbers to each bill collector. INN
