Hyderabad, Jan 4 : The most important and major festival of the Sikh Community across the world, Sri Guru Gobind Singhji’s birthday celebrations, the 10th and last Sikh Guru and founder of Khalsa Panth, will be celebrated on a grand scale in Andhra Pradesh from January 5 to 7th.
In this context, the Prabhandak Committee of Central Gurdwara Saheb Gowliguda will take out a colourful “Nagar Keertan” (Religious Procession) at 4 PM on Sunday from Central Gurudwara Saheb Gowliguda, Near Koti. On the day of Prakash Utsav (Birthday celebrations) which falls on January 7, a grand “Vishaal Deewan” (Mass Congregation) will be held at Central Gurdwara Gowliguda from 11 AM to 4.30 PM.
Prabhandak Committee President S. Tirlok Singh and other members said that the “NagarKeertan” would be taken out from Central Gurudwara Saheb Gowliguda and will pass through Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Marg, Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj, Siddiamber bazar, M J Market, Jambagh, Putlibowli and return back to Gurudwara Sahib in the evening. Over 20,000 devotees will take part in the procession. Guru Granth Sahebji (the revered Holy Scripture of the Sikhs) will be carried on a beautifully decorated vehicle along with “Nishaan Sahebans” (Religious Flags).
The Procession will be marked by the rendering of Shabad Keertans (Holy Hymns) by the Jatha Tera Jatha and Keerthani Jathas of men, women and youths. Besides that “Panj Pyaras” (five beloved ones) in their traditional attire will be the cynosure of the attraction all along the procession. The major attraction of the procession will be the display of “Gatka” a famous Sikh martial art forms and other breathtaking sword exercises all along the procession by Dashmesh Kalgidhar Jatha and other special Gatka Parties will also exhibit their Gatka skills.
The “Vishaal Deewan” will be held at Central Gurdwara Saheb Gowliguda from 10 am to 4 pm on January 7, where over 25,000 to 30,000 Sikh Devotees and other community faiths will participate. The event will be marked by the recitations of Gurbani Keertans (Holy Hymns) by the reputed Ragi Jathas (religious preachers) who are being specially invited from various parts of the country to render shabad keertans.
Bhai Mukthiar Singhji (Patialawale, Punjab), Bhai Balpreet Singhji (Ludhianawale, Punjab), Mata Vipinpreet Kaurji, Bhai Hari Singhji and other reputed Ragi Jathas will recite shabad keertans and Kathas and throw light on the teachings of Sikh Gurus. After the culmination of the congregation Guru Ka Langar (free community kitchen) will be served to the devotees.
A Night Kirtan Darbar (Night Congregation) will be held at Central Gurudwara Saheb Gowliguda from 9.30 pm to 1.30 am in which above said renowned Ragi Jathas wil rendered keertans and kathas followed by Guru ka Langar. INN
