Shankar Rao stages dharna against brother’s arrest

Hyderabad, August 20 : Former minster Dr P Shankar Rao conducted a two-hour long dharna before the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Assembly premises in protest against the arrest of his brother Dayanand by the police on the charges of attempting to grab a land.

Shankar Rao claimed that the charges against his brother were false and the case was a part of conspiracy hatched by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and DGP V Dinesh Reddy. He alleged that the police was also planning to arrest his wife in a fake case. He said that the Chief Minister was defaming the Congress party by mistreating a Dalit leader.

It may be mentioned that Shankar Rao’s brother Dayanand was arrested on Monday for allegedly trying to grab 166 Sq Yrds of land at Gamininagar under Musheerabad police limits. INN
