CM greets people on I-Day

Hyderabad, August 14 : Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy greeted the people of Andhra Pradesh on the 67th Independence Day.

In an Independence Day message to the people of the State, the Chief Minister said, “Today is certainly the memorable and momentous day in the life of every Indian, a day of happiness and pride for all of us. We are proud to be the people of an independent India. We are proud of our country. We are proud of our democracy. We are proud of our cherished values and ideals. But we should also remember that it has taken the sacrifices of lakhs of Indians to bring us the freedom and for us to become a Sovereign Democratic Republic. Our well being and progress have been built upon the foundation of the hard work and sacrifices of our freedom fighters, the brave jawans of our armed forces, our farmers, our workers, our scientists and technocrats”.

The Chief Minister recalled the unforgettable services of all those martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom and security of our country. “The best way of paying homage to those brave sons of our country will be to resolve that we will always stay committed to strengthening the unity and integrity of our nation. Let us all together take a vow that we will spare no effort to take India to greater heights”.

Kiran Kumar Reddy said the State Government has initiated many welfare and development measures for the welfare of the people and uplift of the poor and downtrodden in particular. He said the Government is dedicated and committed to see that the fruits of the welfare measures reach the real beneficiary. He said the Rachabanda, Indiramma Bata, Bangaru Thalli, Indiramma Kalalu, Mee Seva, Amrutha Hastham and various other programmes have been launched towards achieving this goal.

The Chief Minister said the Rajiv Yuva Kiranaalu programme was launched to help the youth of the State to find employment and other welfare programmes to help farmers and women like interest free loans etc. He recalled the words of former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who said on the midnight of 14th/15th August, 1947 “Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India awakes to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment, we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity”.

The Chief Minister said the youth should draw inspiration from the great leaders of our freedom movement and dedicate themselves in the noble task of nation building. “Let us pledge to uphold the integrity and sovereignty of our nation and unite to steer India to greater heights,” the Chief Minister added.

Kiran Kumar Reddy said, while paying tributes to the freedom fighters, who dared the Britishers’ bullets and gallows, we should ensure that the people of the country continue to enjoy the benefits of the Independence. He conveyed his Independence day greetings to all the Telugu brethren. INN
